Hey guys. Have you seen this FS label on this set before? I can't find these labels for the set on a cursory search. The Moy signed labels do look very similar though.

Do you think the $410 hammer price was a good deal?...

...I bought this cuz I kinda had too. I live in cali and GC is in cali too so I have to pay tax unless the invoice is over $1500 so technically even though I won this set for $450 it saved me over $100 on tax by pushing the invoice over the mark thereby making this set cost me only about $350. Now I could have paid the tax and had a cheaper invoice but why leave $ on the table instead of using it as a "coupon" is my view :) (Same with Heritage for me too since they have a satellite office here)

Sure. When you factor in the $299 price of the set from the mint and the grading fees, I'm sure the original buyer was into that set at or above the price you bought it for.

I'm wondering if these labels indicate a bulk sub like how hsn has a deal with anacs. The FS labels a regular guy would have got were the FS flag labels right? Maybe @Conder101 knows?

If you look on eBay there are other labels identical to yours.

There's nothing bullion about that set.

pretty much the oly 3 coins worth anything is the reverse proof coin and i think the W burnishedi have one of those sets might buy another soon

The reverse proof and the S burnished were exclusive to the set.

I got them to crack for my album but I think I'll just keep them as is and get an ogp for the set. Like I said, I was looking for something in the auction to push my I voice over the tax mark. I don't think you can knock buying this set for $350

I bought the reverse and burnished coins both slabbed on eBay. Saved money rather than buying the whole set. I do own the standard proof and bullion piece but I collect one each regardless, every year.

Labels or not, you got a hella deal!

I sold 4 of those sets raw for well over $1,000 each.

Where can you sell them for over a $1,000? I'd love to get anywhere near that price for my sets. Or was this a few years ago?

Either way well done by the OP, an effective cost to you of $350 is a great price.

it's all bullion. the only ones getting more money would be the proofs. :wacky:

I might buy one for the type set, if it was either inexpensive or very nicely toned, but that's about it. If I was into ASEs, I'd go MS only and stick them in a Dansco or something.

Yep, I flipped 3 of my sets raw for $850 each, but that was a few years back. Those were fun times.....not sure what they're going for now, but I know you had a great deal.

@Cascade , I believe those are the signed John Mercanti labels from PCGS. When you get them, can you update this thread?

I do have them and they are not signature labels

The S was unique for that set, you wont sniff that coin for bullion price. I wouldn't say 60 percent of the set being clearly numismatic makes something all bullion, but even the two bullion coins command a premium when they can be linked back to one of those sets.

Even though some people are happy to buy the two unique coins and put their own set together a little cheaper, a number of people want all the coins to have been from one of those sets.

I myself understand your reasoning. just saying I would never pay the premium for these coins.
