    die chips that have been flattened down a little from being in circulation

    Not the nostril snot, the vertical in front of the eye.

    I can't tell for sure, but I bet it is a clash mark from the olive branch. Check the reverse to see if the nose edge is in the olive branch. I've found a bunch like that.

    I would think it is a die clash as well. I'm no expert though, and don't search dimes, so I would defer to Jay.

    I thought of die clash at first, but it is so straight, and what part of the reverse would have punched this space into the die?

    My '99 P is missing the bridge of the nose totally.
    That on your coin is clashing I would guess, but not that much of an expert either.
    I just wanted to share my '99 and see what you think

    Hmmm is resess device clashing known on roosies? Is the olive branch high enough on the die to reach down into the eye area?
