This was also my favorite of your purchases. Many other beauties too! I'll bet you had a blast! Even if that CBH was dipped prior to grading, IMO, they did it right.
Nice coins. That same 1872 seated dollar went unsold on my website for a few months before I sold it to another dealer at the NH Coin & Currency Expo in November.
I had a hard time getting pics of it. It went to pcgs for a crossover attempt yesterday. I told em I would accept xf40, though it looks like a solid 45 to me. Also asked for trueview.
I actually traded a cherrypicked coin for this seated dollar, so technically I am only into this coin for $220.
I think the 1824 Bust is my favorite of the group as well. It is gorgeous. Yes, it was almost certainly dipped (it is way too white to not have been). However, a light dip is just fine, if done properly and stabilized. The coin has begun to regain a patina. It does, however, definitely appear AU-58. The high point on the wing of the eagle, in her hair, and her breast appears to have just the slightest hint of wear. It is a premium 58 - but I think it is a 58.
Just did a retake on the 1853 fish scale nice repunched what is going on under the 1? And this one is not listed in cpg.
To me, in-hand, what is going on under the 1 is just a mark of some sort. I've seen this particlar rpd before, so I'm uncertain as to rarity. But for $10, I couldn't pass it up!
It looks like somebody knows what he's doing! Awesome haul & congratulations on everything.....I'm drooling Haven't been to a FUN show yet, but it sure looks like it would be worth the flight.
It crossed to XF40 at PCGS. No idea why as it's clearly a 45, but that's the game PCGS plays to get resubmissions to make more money... Nevertheless, it needed a new holder anyway since the NGC one was all scratched up. Plus I ordered trueviews, so I'll post those images later when they come through.
I didn't see you or it in nh in November too bad I had a good show there selling and was buying heavy too bought 3 seated dollars too there I like the color on it
Looks like a solid 45 to me. I'd either reconsider or see what cac thinks. Is a nice coin in my opinion
So basically this is the only reason I crossed this to PCGS. THE PICS! Yes, it downgraded to xf40, but the NGC holder was all scuffed up, and this coin's toning is so irredecent, I just couldn't capture it. Looking at it head on, it's darkly toned, but in full lighting, it looks like this!
