A while back-- what is it, a couple of months now?-- some of us were "talking" about the various Presidential Dollar promotional materials that the Mint was making available to the public. I took them up on their offer and ordered up a modest amount for Thalia Elizabeth's First Grade class. When it came in, I brought the box over to the school and gave it to the school librarian for distribution. A lot of the material was bookmarks. Good news... I just heard from the librarian that the materials were a big hit. Thalia Elizabeth herself came home with a bookmark and one of the small fliers describing the program. I would imagine that the materials are still available from the Mint if anyone else would like to give this a go. It can't hurt and it might bring in some more Young Numismatists, who knows? And if nothing else, the kids get some free bookmarks...
True, I'd expect that... But I have seen some really nice material handed out by the Royal Canadian Mint at shows like the CNA Convention last year. Do you suppose they might make some of that available to schools as the US Mint does here?
I never got everything I ordered, but I tried to get 150 of everything... 2 different 11x17 posters (they sent 10 of each, sniff) The cardboard errr... slot things for the $ (they sent all 150 of those) A few of the flyers (different ones, they sent 150 of each) Bookmarks (all 150 came as well). Probably more that I can't recall... given out to third graders at the school I work for. I have yet to get rolls of the Adams to give out, but the Washingtons went over big with everyone (teachers and students alike).
i ordered too, half the stuff didn't come in and the rest was not the qty ,i just sent in the bookmarks in to my daughters class
Interesting. I didn't order all that much-- I don't recall the exact quantities and I didn't keep the paperwork, but it was something like 5 or 6 posters, 100 bookmarks, and 100 of the small cards that explain the Presidential Dollars program. Plus 25 of something that I don't even remember. (Note to self: Take better notes next time.) Perhaps, despite there not being any limits stated on the Mint's webpage, there are in fact some sort of limits or allocation if they get too many requests.
I will say the kids liked what they sent, and didn't miss what they didn't, as did I. (Note to self: Take better notes next time.)
