I got this coin free today along with a silver 50 pfennig. All I can see on the obverse is a female head facing left, and on the left side I can read Isabela, on the right side I can read "de Dios y la" and the rest is unreadable. The date is can tell is 1-8, then what looks like the top of a 6. The last number I can't make out, but looks like maybe the top of an 8.
The reverse has a crowned arms, draped on both sides. At about the 7 o'clock position looks like maybe "10", but really worn. At 4 o'clock looks like the top of an "E" or an "R". It's definitely a Spanish coins of Isabela, any guesses on the denomination? It's about the size of a quarter, and it looks a lot more yellow in hand, almost like brass. IMG_20160109_215120.jpg

    It is silver or gold?

It's not silver, it looks too "yellow". It feels heavy like gold, but sounds more like brass when dropped.

Yeah! I assumed that this gold. Because the bust looks to the left. Can you tell me the date and weight?

Are all the ones that look left gold? The best I can make out on the date is probably 1868.

Yes. Silver and copper: the bust looks to the left. Gold: to the right.

Even being so worn, I can't beat it for free. With it was a silver 50 pfennig, and 1854 5 and 10 centimeters from France, and a 1897 1 kopek. A friendsent them in an envelope for a surprise and just said, "I know you collect coins, I found these years ago".

    Nice.
Curious, what year was the 50 pfennig?

It's a pretty common brass copy of a gold 10 escudos. You can find a handful of them on ebay at any given time (the copies that is). I've never seen one this worn though.
