I got this today at my local coin shop, I am very impressed with the quality of these coins. I love the finish and design, I think it looks absolutely flawless.

Anyone else collect bullion from Australia?

Sorry for the poor photos, there is some debris on the case and it is slightly out of focus towards the edges.

I'm not a collector of the type but I've heard nothing but good things about these coins. Well struck example!

These are always very hit or miss with me. Sometimes they look really good and other years they don't. 2016 has a great design though.

This is one bullion series that has gotten better with age. I have just about all the years from the first year issued.
Perth got this series right, considering the RCM was a total let down on the wildlife series.
The RCM started out I believe in 2006 with a half oz. Wolf coin. It was a big hit and low mintage too. They scraped the 1/2 oz coin only minted one year. Then they came out with the wolf, cougar, bear, moose, buffalo, and elk.
Well they got 3 out of 6 right! The others look like something out of a Warner Brothers cartoon studio!
The Kookaburra series all are well done.....and a series I don't mind paying over spot for a beautiful coin.
I'm waiting for an 1995 kook that should be here this week.
And only paid $24.01 for it. :)

Kookaburra can be an interesting bird. I had one that literally was my alarm clock in the morning.

This is an example of the sound one makes. Not my video but it gives you the idea why it sounds like it's laughing.

It's interesting to see how you can pick one up for close to melt value. You cannot find one for sale in Australia for that low for starters.

Growing up in the 60's one watched old 30 - 40's Tarzan movies. No matter what film you watched it never failed that you heard the call of a Kookaburra in the movie several times. Even though they don't live in Africa . :) oh well Hollywood likes to use special effects .
