    I wish I could give you a picture but camera isn't working right, right now. The word United on obverse is almost flat while the other words are more pronounced. Is this anything I should consider as an error or is it so common that it's worthless?

    Sounds like a grease filled die. A common error that is worthless (at least until you show a photo).

    Could just be a worn die, you will see a lot of that on Philly cents on the reverse.
