His commemorative will be coming out soon in silver and gold with the designated design for each.

    Any thoughts of those designs?

    Will you be getting any?

I will probably shoot for one of the silver ones. I am a Mark Twain fan. I find the silver design much more compelling than the gold.

I agree with Santini. Probably a burnished silver for me. Not really my area of collecting or interest, but Twain is one of my favorite storytellers.

I'll buy a silver proof and maybe an uncirculated version.

Remember guys, he used to live in Virginia City in his youth so he was directly connected to the gold and silver mines of the Comstock load ;)

That should be enough reason for everyone e here to want at least the silver version :)

I'm getting the $5 gold, the silver dollar uncirculated, and the half dollar clad uncirculated versions.

I like the design on the gold, but can only afford the silver. He is a great read!

The pre-sale on ebay for these coins are outrageous. 445.00 for the unc gold and 745.00 for MS 70! The coins aren't even in hand yet and a few have sold already.

I think that this (and every...) thread requires a picture - pics from the 'net:

As usual, I hope the flippers choke on them.

The reverse on the Gold piece is the first time I've seen that much attention to detail on a US coin in a long time.

I am in for the coins, but I don't plan to flip any.
