I am fairly confident this coin is fake. Any second opinions? http://www.ebay.com/itm/1929-INDIAN...877702?hash=item25b4216646:g:D3oAAOSwoydWiD0w
I'm an ancient coin collector, and even I think that is fake. The uneven wear on the design makes me think it is a poor cast. The pictures are poor but I think I see some cast bubbles, also, the flan is too small and part of the design is missing (or maybe that's just the poor pictures?), and the color/toning looks weird for something supposed to be 22K gold.
I don't know how you can see enough of it to call it one way or the other. To me, if I can't see it enough to call it, I pass.
Oft-counterfeited type, homemade slab, seller with light experience and the only item he is currently offering. Enough red flags for me without positive confirmation of whether it's real or not.
It's certainly questionable. Without proof one way or another though, this is a good example why it's best to simply avoid such offerings.
They have not made a CAST $2 1/2 Indian in OVER 50 years! OK, so they may have but they don't look like this. Stick to ancients.
This is literally what I was going to post. I won't touch an Indian quarter eagle raw unless it's from a reputable seller, and that goes double on eBay.
