http://www.amazon.com/Abraham-Linco...6391&sr=8-3&keywords=unsearched+wheat+pennies my favorite coin is wheat pennies, should I purchase this? -Thanks!
If you have to ask, probably not. Generally, don't buy into the "unsearched" thing. You'll end up paying too much.
With shipping that is $8.00 for a roll of Lincolns, probably from the 40s and 50s, with maybe a few common date 30s. I'd skip it.
Agree that some coins pictured look like they've either been polished or abrasively cleaned harshly in the past.
Don't walk, run away from this. Most of the coins appear to be harshly cleaned and are worth copper value only, ie a little more than a cent. Common 40s 50s wheats sell for about 4c each, ie a roll should cost $2.00 The asking price in the OP + postage is a ripoff.
I agree with everybody else. These are 100% not worth the price. I don't go for "unsearched" lots, because I don't think there's been an unsearched roll of wheaties in at least 40 or 50 years, but these are particularly bad.
If you look at what C and D coins or Verns cards and coins offers. They usually have good stuff for a decent price (compared to every other coin on amazon) i have purchsed from both of them and have been happy with my purchses. Also, look at the all department catagories becausse a lot of people lsit their products in other or toys and games, and you can find ANACS and ICG graded coins in areas otehr than collectable coins. If you do not have enough money than i would recommend lookign into bing rewards to make some extra amazon gift cards, i use bing rewards every day and have been very happy with them.
I'm not saying they are selling overpriced "junk," but this?: and this?: Add in that $4.49 shipping, too. They also seem to be selling lots of copper rounds/bars, smaller fractional silver, and some (honestly) not outrageously priced other US coins (only looked at the first 6 pages) but once you factor in another $4.49 for shipping, not worth it IMO.
I would not. If you are looking to buy wheat cents, I'm sure many members on this four would be willing to sell you some. You could even try eBay. I understand where you are coming from though. When I was your age, the only site my parents would allow me to buy from was Amazon.
As some of you know I don't like using the term Penny.. Cent is correct for me. But I have a question for the plural of Penny. Is it Pennys or Pennies?
I was just saying the price was really high. A local coin shop would probably have them for less and you would not have to pay shipping. Wherever you buy, don't pay extra because they say they are unsearched. Always believe that they have been searched.
I have been thoroughly unimpressed with Amazon's coin section. It is even worse than Ebay when it comes to overpriced junk. If you want wheat pennies, go to a show near you - many dealers have binders and bins of them, and you can get them for reasonable prices (and you can pick the ones that look the best).
