Can any one identified what made these impressions ? Take into consideration I have an 1878 Carson City Morgan was similar impressions, does not photographed while. Also as you can see the Susan B. Anthony and various quarters with dates and met marks and also I have found dimes as you can see in the pitchers. I know over the years I have discarded many of these quarters and dimes and even Kennedy half dollars. This question may have come up before and someone has the answer.
It looks like a George Washington hit her square on the chin. Though I shouldn't jump to conclusions, it could've been Kennedy.
gentlemen I appreciate your input. But I'm trying to think how a Washington could make these impressions or a Kennedy especially on my 1878 Carson City I don't think Kennedys were around at that time you have two dimes with the smaller marks and the last photo is 25c with two marks. I know these photos not the best quality but viewed under a coin microscope at least 10 to 40 power you can see the distinctive marks. All I can say is start looking through your change especially the quarters and dimes most marks will be two with a light third or even a single and the dimes have that W shape the impression will be from light as is on my 1878 Carson City two deep impressions like on the Susan B the ones I have found have always been on the overse I have not found any of these marks on the reverse. Again thank all of you for your input
These are reeding hits. The look is characteristic, and nothing else does it. Usually happens in the bag, before they even leave the Mint, or while being handled while still bagged.
It's obvious Lincoln did it. He was turned into a biter. In the book Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, we were led to believe that he was assassinated, which he was, but in the sequel The Last American Vampire it is revealed that he was turned into a vampire after his assassination and he "lived" into modern times.
I see, sorry if my joke confused. Ever drop a Morgan on your foot? My friend did to me when I was a kid and I think that's what sparked my interest in coin collecting. Morgans are reeded edges and also VERY heavy. That's why you can have a Morgan Dollar be low MS and have little eye appeal because of all the bag marks the coins make when contacting each other.
you need proof? go buy a bag of Kennedy halves from the US Mint website and look at each coin and you will find many that have reeding contact marks that look like your pics, some only on obverse, some only on reverse, some on both sides, its what it is....
