1839 large cent

    Newbe here. I am looking for info on a large cent 1839 and hope someone here can offer some insight. I can't seem to find another with the date as large as this one. Afraid of possibility of a counterfeit, or maybe a really rare coin.
    Photos are only to show date.

    I looked up other 1839 cents, and without exception, all of those pictured had curved dates that paralleled the rim. Yours is straight like later ones. Is this a particularly valuable year or variety?

    That is what I am trying to find out. Hopefully someone on this forum has that knowledge.

    There is only one variety of the 1839 braided hair large cent and I'm sorry to say that this isn't it. The variety known as N-8 is the first appearance of the braided hair design. It should look like this. image.jpg image.jpg

    So does that mean you think it is a counterfeit?
    I just got this in an auction lot and don't know anything about it.
