Any idea if an updated Dansco 7070 will be released in the near future?

I recently bought a used 7070 from a friend, and realized that it is a little out of date and is missing holes for several important types of coins. For example:

    - There are no holes for modern coins, such as the Westward Journey nickels, Lincoln bicentennial cents, Presidential dollar, AtB quarter, Lincoln shield cent, new Jefferson nickel, or new Sacagewea dollar.

    - There is no hole for the $3 gold piece

    - There are holes for Commemorative halves and dollar, but not for a Commemorative $5 gold

    - There are not separate holes for the 40% half and clad half

I looked it up, and there has not been another version released since 2000. Any idea if they will update it soon? Or maybe make a couple new pages to add to it?

Nobody has any real idea. I would assume that Dansco is not putting anything out anytime soon.

Some of the "missing" holes are by design. Adding a $3 gold increases the cost of completing the album by a few hundred to several thousand dollars, depending on the grade you want. Same with the $5 gold. The 40% vs clad half is kind of hard to squeeze in there and keep the number of pages manageable (and the same argument can be made for other varieties that get left out).

There are good albums out there by Littleton, Intercept, Eagle, and probably others. Or, you can just come up with your own method of displaying your collection. Albums are great. They provide a nice goal when you get all the holes filled, but they also constrain you a bit, since most are pretty hard to modify.

I, myself, enjoy intercept shield albums

Since I like Registry Sets there is no special album for my type set.
    All my coins are slabbed.
I used to use Eagle Certified Coin Albums but they were a bit awkward to handle, especially the 5-page ones.
I don't know if they are even made anymore.
There are some other brands too.

It makes you wonder just how much attention they are paying at Dansco? These albums are very popular and go for a premium on Ebay. Obviously, there is a market, so why has Dansco ignored it so long? It would be a simple exercise to produce a page or two to hold these modern varieties, or even market a whole replacement set of pages, although the odd sizes of modern coins would not fit the current format.
I have a "new" 7070 I nabbed off Ebay, still in the wrapper, and about 80% filled. I am trying for high grades, in the XF to Unc grades, which makes some of the pricier coins very expensive.
There is profit to be made here, so I just don't get it.

From what I understand, Dansco is a family owned and ran company. The company did well for many years and it's just not all that important to them any longer.
The 7070 was already a large album. Bringing it up to date would make it a two album set. It would be a big project to do it right and the cost to launch it would be great.

Yet somehow we still get updated albums for just about every other popular series.

Here's how I would do it:

-Reduce the number of holes for Commemorative halves from 4 to 3 to make space for the silver clad half dollar

-Add holes to the modern US coinage page for the Native American dollar, ATB quarter, and Presidential dollar

    - Add a second modern page for the Bicentennial Lincoln cents, Shield cent, WWJ nickels, new Jefferson nickel

    - Add a hole to either the Dollars page or Moderns page for a 40% Ike dollar. Maybe reduce the number of holes for commem halves from 4 to 2 to make room, or put the ATB quarter, NA dollar, and Presidential Dollar to the new second Moderns page

    - Add holes to the Gold page for the $3 gold (in lower grades they cost less than $1000) and modern commemorative $5. Maybe also add a hole for the type II gold dollar, although those are pretty rare.

-If there's room, add holes to the second Moderns page for the 90% silver proof dime, quarter, and half. These aren't as necessary since the album seems to be primarily for business strike coins.

-Have a separate second album (called "Modern Bullion Type Set" or something along those lines) available with holes for the American Gold Eagle coins, Buffalo gold coins, Platinum bullion coins, and have holes for an ASE and 5oz. ATB in there.
