I told myself I was on a buying freeze to save money for NYINC, but myself is very ornery and refuses to listen to me. Here's a denarius of Trajan with the extra-long inscriptions typical of many of this emperor's coinage. Obv.: IMP CAES NER TRAIAN OPTIM AVG GERM DAC; Rev.: PARTHICO P M TR P COS VI PP SPQR // FORT RED. That's ten titles on one coin! It's hard enough to find coins with these long legends that are centered well enough to read all of the letters. But this denarius is also engraved with refined style by a master hand, and struck so well that even the shallow details of Fortuna's rudder and the drapery hanging from her left arm are clear. So you can see why I slipped...
that's an excellent coin JA. if you picked that up from a vcoins seller, i had my eye on that one....and almost got it myself.
Don't worry bro you wont be the only one at NYINC, pennyless. BTW the Trajan is awesome. I would gladly welcome that into my collection. The reverse is to die for.
Our bedroom is littered with coins at the moment. My wife is not pleased. I need to make some decisions, lol.
Just so you know you are not alone in troubles caused by YOUR coin activity: Every time you put a few dollars in my Paypal account because you sold one of my low priced coins, I seem to go out and buy something with a much higher price restoring my zero balance. I suspect if I had just given those coins away and not gone shopping for their replacements, I would be far ahead financially. I'm with your wife on this one. List more, sell more, clean out that litter! The season for spending Christmas money is soon to be upon us. Sell them all.
You know, I thought selling coins would actually reduce the number of coins in my possession, but it's done exactly the opposite. Between consignors and the fact that I easily buy twice as many coins as I sell, I'm drowning in coins at this moment. In fact, I'm working on it assiduously. On Christmas day I will unleash a clearance sale of Biblical proportions. You will all be notified.
Shame I might have to sit that one out. I'm traveling and out of town, plus I'm already bidding on several coins at auction. I don't want to end up drowning in coins myself. I need to control the flood waters a little.
