I have been trying to find a rough value before I send it out to be graded. Any ideas on this Roosevelt 1985 P Mad Die Clash?
I will definitely flatten the staples. I have found two online in much worse condition ungraded. One was $399 and the other was $599 ungraded and listed as Ultra Rare Mad Die Clash 1985 P Roosevelt. I am unsure if their asking prices are realistic.
I'm not sure of your terminology, but I feel the need to clarify: When you say "MAD die," that has a certain meaning in numismatics. A MAD error is a "Mis-Aligned Die" - which your coin does not exhibit (MADs are very common, and usually have little-to-no premium). When you say "mad" die clash that is marketing hype, and has no meaning. Your coin experiences a strong die clash, but that is fairly common on dimes. That one is strong, certainly, but even strong die clashes are only worth a small premium (with a few exceptions). I would probably value your coin at $3 - $5, tops. I'm not sure what those other listings are which you cite, but those prices are ludicrous for a die clash.
