It got a straight grade from PCGS. I learned a lot by submitting this coin. Results will be posted Tuesday.

I see some wear on the wheat grains, I'm going to say AU 53

Was that fairly recently acquired from a rather large group of similar coins from an Ebay seller? If so, I have another of them. :)

If PCGS slabbed it righteous, it's about EF40. Love it.

VF30? I hate trying to grade Lincolns between VF and AU. There's so little difference between grades compared to other series.

I'm going to go with VF35 to XF 40.

If it got a straight grade, I will say they gave it a 40, but I think it is a 45.

In a lot of cases - this coin being one - I'm pretty much down to grading it by the wheat stalks. It's the surface that utterly fascinates me, and the fact that PCGS signed off on it validates my (and C-B-D's, of course) thinking.. :)

I honestly am a novice when it comes to grading Lincoln cents. This coin mystified me when I saw it. First impression was cleaned, then after some close study I thought problem free but an improperly mixed alloy. Then after more study I considered it could be a lamination error... or both! In any case, I personally graded it AU55 or AU58 but had no idea if an improperly mixed alloy coin could be considered RB (red brown). So I sent it in and this was the result. I honestly didn't care about what grade it would receive, but submitted it out of curiosity. So I think after it all, PCGS liked the coin and remaining luster (even though improperly mixed alloy coins seem to have a much different luster than coins properly mixed).

Strong grained woodies are very difficult to read, to picture and to grade.

Yay! I was the only one who got it right! I would like my prize now for being such a fantastic coin grader :D
