    Hi,

I wanted to get your guys opinions (before I take this coin to my LCS). I have an idea of what the grade might be (but I am still learning the ropes of grading). I can tell the difference between AU and G but have trouble dicerning a VF-25 and VF-30 and other grades that are close to each other so thought I'll ask here.

(FYI this Finally completes my merc collection (excluding the 42/1 D dime)

It's tough to tell on the limited picture size. But I would guess F-12 - F-15 based on what I can see from the photos.

I'm not too happy with the way the scans look on here. I'll probably just wait and see what my LCS says. (I tried a new dealer the other day) and picked this one up.

    I'd go F-12 on it.

This may help us all somewhat. Hoping the OP doesn't mind, I copied and pasted the original Obverse photo and did editing to it so we could see it better.

I can also edit the shade of the coin and backround if it needs to be clearer.

Once this post loses interest, the picture will be deleted from my PhotoBucket (simply because I won't have a use for it) so if the OP wants it, let me know.

Thanks for the help with the pictures. I'm still learning the best way to do things.

You need stronger shadows and contrast in your images . . . you should photo the coin instead of scanning it, which will permit you to tilt it just a bit relative to your light source.

And as a general rule you shouldn't stand on your head when you take pictures as it makes the coin look upside-down to us.

Ask and you shall receive my friend :)

Latest edit: Shadows and Contrast. Can + or - on either if needed.
