I have a 1972 type 2 in to PCGS right now. Ms64 for sure, hoping for 65! I'll let you know the results soon.
@PICCYR You got a 65 I'm gonna bet. I've been following the pops on PCGS Ikes as I have a decent sized batch there as well (not to see my grades pop up, but to see what's being graded as I wait for mine, if that makes any sense). And sure enough a new 65 popped up today in the report. Could that be yours?? I know I'm responsible for two of those 74 T2s (and I still own the better of them). Good luck with your Type 2!! edit- @Cascade and back on topic, that 71D is a slider in my book. Hair details give it away for me. Also, the jaw line can be quite telling for hints of wear, but yours doesn't seem to dramatically worn in that area. So I'd call it an AU-64
I'm getting confused. Is this the same 1971d IKE that I've commented on before? My last one was on Sunday at 4:18 pm. (This was written after the one shown 3 places above.) In the Sunday one I pointed out the marks on Ike's brow and other parallel scratches on the field. Taking a new look I would devalue the coin down to VF 35 and wonder if the later toned photo was the same coin with these blemishes covered up.
@Cascade I apologize. Can't edit it out now. Truly sorry. Kinda got excited about PICCYR. Hey, at least I commented on the topic, right?
Another one popped up today, btw. No more posting in this thread for me. But I highly doubt a GEM 1972 Type 2 Ike Thread would be necessary. lol. edit - don't count on these numbers to be yours. I only mentioned it initially because there just aren't too many high grade Type 2s being submitted and when you say MS64 for sure, I figured with now 2 new 65s popping up it doesn't hurt to let you know that maybe it could be yours. But then again, I could turn into Bad Luck Brian and totally bone you with a 63 for even "taunting" the PCGS gods and gem grades (joking here of course). Or perhaps it's like talking to a pitcher during a no-hitter. Either way good luck with your submission and I'll stop talking here.
