I have one coming that I paid upwards of $450 USD. I'm gonna do what I see in this video.

    Comments? ;)

Put the slab a plastic baggie & squeeze it in a vise. You can squeeze the narrow dimension until you hear a “crack” & then squeeze the longer dimension until you hear another “crack”. The plastic baggie keeps the coin & plastic halves from leaving your control.

Edit to add: If you don't like my technique, then you can smack it with a hammer. Most slabs will crack easily. (Some more easily than others). I think the ICG slabs are pretty tough so you may need a Plutonium laser for cracking those.

    To set it free.......

Most of us don't like slabs, for ancients they are pointless.

Although I have vices I do not have access to a vise. But I do have a hammer. As my Dad used to say "if you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got and electrical problem."

My Mother said, "If you can't find a rake, use a hoe." One of those might be too cumbersome, but fun to use on a slab.

do exactly what he did in the vid.
he wrapped the towel around so splinters don't fly around. There's no way you can reach the coin in a strike even if you used a maul so your totally safe.

Large silver coins can be soft. Tap before you slug it with a sledge.

I will proceed gently until that doesn't work.
