I have another one. After the details grade, I am now skeptical this coin will grade. It was one of my many indiscriminate purchases and I am an affront to the hobby of collecting. That being said, what are opinions of the coin's likeliness of receiving a grade. Any help is appreciated.
Sean 5150, I think you have a VF grade and that is maybe a 50 to 105 dollar coin. I hope my advice helped you.
Sean 5150, let me take that back. I scrolled up and saw the scratches on the side of the coin so maybe those scratches made the price of the coin go down to maybe 15 to 50 dollars.
jwitten, the scratches on a Peace dollar make the price go down but not all the way to 15 dollars maybe i would price it at 55 at retail
What makes you think this coin is not an Unc or MS coin ? Scratches or hits do not make a coin circulated . But I'd love to here how any MS CC mint coin is worth only $15 .
Sean, Coins with proof like characteristics will often look beat up. The reflective surfaces are beautiful but tend to magnify the imperfections. As Bill said that determination can only be made with the coin in hand.
I wouldn't go so far as It is a low grade MS coin maybe a 62 . I would not buy it for all the hits . Sean I think it will grade in the low MS #s .
I like the votes of confidence, after the last details one I'm wary. The main concern is the scratch, I don't know where the line is drawn between bag marks and scratches. It is impossible to try to show the PL qualities like you said, but I know it is PL, I really hope it is DMPL.
Are you serious?? Greysheet is at $370 for ms 60. Without the pl. what planet are you on?? This is a $400 coin any day of the week
This is a Mint State 1878-CC GSA. Sure looks Prooflike, and if so I'd add a zero onto the end of your price estimate. $500+ coin, my estimate 62PL. VAM-2A, from the chip on the nostril.
Man that's a really rough hit across the cheek, but I don't see any reason that it wouldn't straight grade. I'd go MS-61 PL.
