Congratulations I have to say that your posts and website were part of the reason why I started collecting ancients. I saw you jump in and start collecting with great success and thought that I might too be able to collect ancients as well.
Thanks, everone! I agree and have been working on a worthy writeup . Thanks for letting me know. Good luck with your hunts and above all else, have fun!
GADZOOKS! that's a sweet top 10! the runners up are even killer and will make my top coins looks sort of ....meh. all 10 of top 10 are killer. but the Alexandrian lighthouse coin and that TG serpent reverse are great as well. super year TIF!
I like them all but would drop #2 and #7 replacing them with a couple of the runners up. Your order is reasonable but probably different from what I'd do if I had the coins (not likely to happen).
... TIF, TIF, TIF ... => why is it all about TIF? I love your style, Princess (and apparently, so does everybody else => congrats again on an amazingly awesome collecting-year ... fantastic coins and a lot of laughs!!) Happy Holidays
So many apples and oranges! I can never pick favorites from an eclectic lot of gorgeous and interesting coins, but the two provincials of Tyre would have made my list, over and above a couple of coins that are exceptional "only" for their condition. But hey, what does it matter? They're all yours, regardless of how they're ranked. However, if I had to pick one to take home to mom, it would be the stater of Sauromates. I've lately become very interested in Bosporan coinage for its unique style, and I've never lost my admittedly vapid fascination with gold. (I know it's EL, but close enough.)
8,5,3, and 2 are fantastic. What a great year for you coin-wise! The AtG tet is my favourite of the bunch, just a 'wow' kind of coin.
I might know where you could find a turtle. Wonderful coins TIF. I really like them all but just in a slightly different order.
Adorable! My brother and I each had two red eared sliders when we were kids. One of his escaped while the habitats were being cleaned. We never found it.
ha-ha ... man, that's an adorable photo of you and your brother (I love old photos) TIF, you look quite happy ... ummm, your brother doesn't seem quite as impressed with having to hang-out with his little sister!?
I think his demeanor reflects his feelings about Speedy's escape. I'm not sure he ever got over that loss . Mom was doing something nice for us by cleaning out their bowls. She had all four turtles in one habitat and they formed a stack. The top turtle, Speedy, made his getaway and was lost forever in the wilds of Sharpstown. He's holding just one turtle and glaring balefully at the camera (picture taken by Mom). I think she still feels guilty about it.
I really enjoy the look of these types of coins as well as the history and time periods associated with them. I know it is not a top 3 list but if I was forced to pick three out of the bunch I'd go with #2, #9, and #6 in that order. I am going to bookmark this forum. After I do some research, educate myself, and gain some experience I want to come back to it and see how "my eye" was. Nice Coins!!!!!
