3rd one worries me. Tons of fakes there, which is the only reason I haven't got one despite seeing great deals on them.

I'm not saying yours is, and I do hope it's real, but those coins freak me out big time.

It does look new! It's a CNG coin so I guess I assumed authenticity. Maybe others will weigh in on this?

Of course, anyone can make mistakes, but buying from CNG limits your chances of getting a forgery to almost nil. You can pretty much take all your coins from CNG to the bank. (And show them off to the cute teller.)

Choice examples of everything, JB, as usual! But the Pergamon bronze attribution is off - it's the owl standing on palm frond with spread wings, AΘH-NAS / NIKHΘOPOY.

What is CNG? Anyone care to PM me and explain? Or do you mean NGC?

Be careful because they have one-click-bidding. When you click "bid," you bid - you don't get a pop-up asking you if you're sure you want to bid. Be sure, lol.

Well, the good news is that the latest round of bids (at least what I'm seeing) closes on January 13, which gives me plenty of time to observe and think before I have to commit to anything.

There was a time I bought several coins from CNG and I still value their catalogs from the 90's. Today too many of you bid in their sales so I can't get anything. Below is my Persian Empire siglos from a pre CNG 1988 Victor England fixed price list. Those were the good old days.

Hey Sallent => in the future, be careful not to play the "fake-card" unless you have some proof (nobody likes having their coins called-out without a legitimate reason)

    ... I'm just sayin'

Where did I say his coin was fake? Let's see what I wrote, shall we?

I said I was worried because I know there are tons of fakes for that particular coin out there, and that is a well known fact.

"Im not saying yours is, and I do hope it's real..." That's not calling his coin a fake.

I commented why I'm scared of those coins, and it is a legitimate concern, but nowhere do I call his coin a fake.
