1991D Lincoln extra thickness

    This is not normal but I don't see any notching. I do see some faint doubling on Liberty, on the left side of the letters, and the horizontal top of the T is very thick, as well as the date..     Looks fine to me but maybe a slight MAD.

    I just dumped all of my pennies at the Coinstar. I'll get another box tomorrow. I'll post a pic of a "normal" 1991D. The date and Liberty have much thinner letters.

    How many presses and how many dies do you think were used to strike the 4.158 billion of the 1991D cents? Do you think all of the presses were calibrated exactly the same? Do you think all of the working dies were produced exactly alike from the working hubs?

    Here is a "normal one". The first one looks beat up but only the letters, and numbers.

    remember also, as a die wears those small incuse areas on the die that create the letters and digits starts to widen creating fatter letters and digits, therefore the coin in OP is just the result of a die nearing the end of its life...
