Do you have a workspace just for coins? Do you have a coin cabinet?

    Here's mine--

You can see the Berlin cabinet on-line here:

Hit "Key words" to get their initial categorization here:

I tried both "Late Antiquity" and "Christian Iconography" together and got their intersection--coins with early Christian symbolism.

If you ever do have a coin cabinet that big, let me know and I'll be happy to spend my next vacation at your property. I'd even pay room and board for the privilege.

My workspace for my coins is my desk in my home office. It's nothing fancy. I do have a small cabinet for the coins that I happen to have at home at the moment. The rest of the time they are in the safety deposit box at the bank.

I just have a binder holding pages of flips and thats it. Very little space needed.

I have a small red box and one Abafil case. (I only have 26 ancient coins) All my coins are in Saflips.

I have a work area for my coins - it's just my study desk. The coins are stored in my safe deposit box at the bank.

I would love to have a proper coin cabinet with trays, but I'm a worry-wart and would always be apprehensive about a fire or break in.

I have a coin cabinet. It's an old dental cabinet, I lined the drawers with felt.

Unfortunately it doesn't typically live up to its use because I keep most of my rare coins in the bank safe box. But my lower value coins and other things like minerals and fossils live in the cabinet.

What size places for the flips does your case have? Their 2x2 holes are really a bit smaller than 2x2 (They are an Italian firm that does not use inches for measurement) and I am unaware of safety flips that fits those holes. I wish I could find some. The usual safety 2x2 flips are too large to fit inside. 1 1/2" x 1 1/2" flips fit their smaller slots well enough, although they are tight. So, what size slots does your case have?

Superb! I wish I could find something like this. I once found in an antique store a really nice map case, but it wasnt for sale (just to hold the maps for sale). I still have an old library card index cabinet that I cant be sure what to do with. If I collected slabs I suppose it would work for that.

Hi, The Saflips fit fine in my case. I bought the case from Edward Wadell's site. The specs are below

Here is the info from the site
    MINI-DIPLOMAT "1" Exterior dimensions: 9-1/2 x 7-1/8 x 1" with one built-in tray 115 Case with 12 spaces (2-1/8 x 2-1/8): Fits standard 2 x 2 flippette

It has 12 spaces so it is perfect for my 12 Caesars.

Ah! My full-size Abafil case (which I don't use because the flips don't fit) has trays 13 1/8" by 8 5/8" with 4 holes by 6. The square slots have interior about 1 7/8" square or a bit more, but distinctly less than 2". Apparently the mini-diplomat has different hole sizes.

Carthago Does this look infected to you?

I think there are lots of different size options with the trays. I use the trays that hold 77 coins...I think they are 1x1. Work great for denarii/aureii in the flesh.

My work space is an absolute disaster at the moment - sadly I've always been this way with my work desk:
    image.jpeg

As for storing my coins, my moderns are kept in cardboard 2x2s in binders (which I'm going to start switching out slowly). My medieval and ancients I've decided to start storing in the Lighthouse MB boxes inside 2x2 flips, but unfortunately the Saflips are just a little too big to fit:

    image.jpeg

I'm still in the process of switching out my old storage method and recataloguing a bunch of Roman coins I bought as an uncleaned lot in the 90s. This consisted of about 8 of these little boxes with labels connected to a catalogue book:

    image.jpeg

Needless to say, the coins shifted in some moves, and don't match up to the labels anymore (not that many of my old attributions were accurate...)
