I have a PCGS graded 1995-W silver eagle PR69 DCAM. The only problem is that it has some milk spots on the obverse and reverse. Is there anything I can do about this?..........Craig

I was thinking it was from REAL milk.

from what has been posted on this forum by some smart folks, the spots are from the wash the coins get at the mint. Im not sure if their is anything that can prevent them :(

Unfortunately it can't be prevented (except by the mint but apparently they don't care) and it really can't be fixed. I have a PCGS PR69DCAM and a PCGS MS69 that have milkspots.

Try putting a claim into PCGS as an improperly graded coin.

you're doomed, the mint really doesn't care all that much about collectors Imo, thats why they turn out stuff that we are basically unable to protect from the elements and ravages of nature

makes you wonder at times who to blame for the spots. in some cases spotting doesn't happen until after a coin is slabbed,so in that case one would tend to blame the tpg. in either case it is a problem that frustrates collectors. it's way past time to seriously address the problem and fix it!

Howdy Craig - Welcome to the Forum !!

Unfortunately no there is nothing you can do about this. There is nothing at all that will remove the spots without damaging the coin. And if you sent it back for a grading review you wouldl be told the coin is correctly graded and thus be out the additional costs for nothing. Bottom line, the coin is as it is.
