Apparently so. Just for kicks (No pun intended), tell me how long it takes to finish kicking yourself. ;)

It does seem to be a bit outrageous.

i dont understand why its so good all it is is 10 sets of silver aniversary unopened while the opened sell for like 500 and that would be 800 bucks each so isnt it a bad deal?

Am new at collecting and have some Silver anniversary sets of my own in the unopened box. I have no intention on selling my coins ever but it is nice to see how they have appreciated in value. Have not seen any sell $800 a set in the unopened box, not yet anyhow. (edit) Or maybe i should say not before today. Thanks for the post Nick

Lately the price on these coin sets see to have hit an overdrive status. Have seen some auction on Ebay where The MS70 with the NGC silver anniversary set label was listed as a buy now for more than a 70 grade in the Reverse proof ($1,000) . Have Seen this on more than one auction. Now the same ms70 in a NGC "regular" label goes for under $300 . Kind of curious if the true feeding frenzy hype has started on these sets. Do Not get me wrong I hope they go to $5k since I have some . lol

Sure seems like a bad deal to me. I opened my sets to check them out (and to put the capsules back in their holes so they wouldn't rattle around). I think the set is beautiful in the original packaging and I wouldn't think of breaking them up to have them graded.

I think $800 a set is absurd based on the highest going rate ($439) for intact sets. You should be happy you didn't buy them.

Everyone is gambling with those unopened boxes hoping to land some 70 graded coins.

I have 5 sets and 2 sets are in unopened box. I was going to send them in to get graded but I think they will go on e-bay one day. Just unsure of when that day will be. Glad I wanted at least this long.

I have one set and it looks perfect to me. I was reading where pf69 and 70 are becoming the norm from the mint. I think the whole package deal is outstanding. But a thousand bucks gives one pause.

The key to getting the really big money out of these set is that they are in the unopened shipping boxes. Otherwise, people assume that the sets have already been screened for PQ coins that may grade 70.

I just got the newest Coin World (May 28th) and some dealers are advertising them for $495. This is a big jump from just one week ago $449 from the same dealer. I presume they wouldn't be raising the prices if they were having trouble selling them at the lower price.

Its for real! I think you're going to see a VERY large spike this week on ebay alone. These coins are too hot to drop in value. Even opened sets are selling for $525 wholesale! Even the reverse proofs by themselves are getting close to $400!

Let's say if an average set is about 400 dollars. The box around it is worth another 4grand unopened. Hmmmmmmmmm.
