Thanks 'Z' I have to try harder to catch up to all of you ( Hmmm That sounds like an old Avis commercial)
I haven't got enough chances to post this coin...cost a little more than yours @Mikey Zee Gordian III, AD 238-244 AE, sestertius, 25.46g, 32.5mm; 12h; Rome, AD 238-239 Obv.: IMP CAES MANT GORDIANVS AVG; laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right Rev.: VICTORIA AVG; Victory advancing left, carrying wreath and palm; S-C
Glad to help out!! It's a beauty Jwt708... I LOVE all the posts!!! It may be of interest to note that the Gordian III I posted was significantly cheaper than the Trajan Decius, which is 'alleged' to be a bit scarce. Yet, I seem to favor 'Gordo' a bit more..... as most of you seem to.
Those are some really nice sestertii Mikey! And this coming from a silver guy, so you know that means something!
Thanks for the kind words 'V'---From you that does mean a lot! But my next post of sestertii etc will not be as nice, but interesting (I hope).
I love silver as much as any silver bug. I still have silver bars I bought from when silver was $4.50 an ounce. But when it comes to Ancients, as beautiful as the silvers are, some of the nicest and most interesting coins were made of Bronze. I feel like I'd miss out on a lot by only focusing on silver.
I think that's why ancients, more than any other coin collecting niche, is a very personal journey. One's man's trash is another man's treasure, if you will.
Steve, a FANTASTIC array of the King of Bronze!!! You can tell me. Which one is my Secret Santa gift??

Any sestertius ? Below is a virtual tray of 16 sestertii of mine, two of them not being in my collection anymore (one is already sold : Pupienus, the other is for sale on a certain Vcoins store at the moment : Mariniana) Q
Well, sort of ! The one I paid the most for is the Maximus, by far And, should I have to sell it, the one I would ask the most for is the Sev. Alexander Q
Interesting !! By my former and even current budget, most of your coins would be a push for me...But I LOVE THEM!!
