Help - coin bucranium symbol to left

    image-46.jpeg image-45.jpeg Ladies and gentlemen ! Tell me what kind of coin. I see there Brokeback O or symbol of the bull. Zebu standing left; bucranium symbol to left. It Bactria? Coin fine of about 3 grams

    I can say i know something about Bactrian coinage. This is not a Bactrian coin in my opinion.

    It looks Iberian, but let me do some research now that I have some time.

    I can't seem to locate anything quite like it, but it resemples some of the coins from Castulo. Sorry.

    I think the Antioch, Syria area is the best possible lead. Probably 1st or 2nd century AD.

    This is a little closer although on your coin I don't see anything above the bull.

    SELEUKID KINGS of SYRIA. Seleukos II Kallinikos. 246-225 BC. Æ 15mm (3.50 g, 12h). Uncertain mint associated with Antioch. Laureate head of Apollo right / Bull standing left; monogram to left. SC 708; SNG Spaer 432 var. (second monogram below bull). Near VF, rough brown patina. Rare.


    Wildwinds doesn't have this type. I didn't check other places or online reference books.

    Your bull/zebu (assuming that's what it is) has a mighty prominent hump. It almost looks like the letter "o".

    Tif and Mikey Zee - Thank you.My coin no monogram of the letters, as in the example has the letters over the bull, I have a different type of coin. You're right.
