My wife is busting with pride over finding this. I love the coin myself.
    Looks to be "almost" uncirculated.
Any ideas to help make 20151212_224950.jpg her even happier?

Very nice, but we would need images of both sides of the coin to give it any sort of guess at a grade or value. How do you mean found? It looks to be in a holder.

A very popular saved Comm. Half Dollar. Seems to be available in circulated grades to Uncirculated grades.

    Tell her it's a keeper :)

She was doing some shopping (Christmas ) and found it at one of the "places" she went to. It is in a plastic case. Tells the story behind the reason for the coin being minted. Pics in a minute.

Confederate generals Stonewall Jackson and Robert E. Lee. An attractive design, and a neat bit of history, I think anyway. Not rare, but a lot of people have never seen one. If you want a good opinion of what it's worth good pictures of the coin's surfaces will be needed. It is 90% silver and does look to have only minimal wear.

Ouch. Can't get much better pic unless it's out of the case. Good idea?

A tremendous and often controversial piece of history behind that coin.

If the case can be opened just hold the coin by the edges, and don't try to clean or rub the coin in any way.

You can try to take some more direct shots straight on. The best that I can see now, it somewhere between a cleaned XF to a MS-64.

Unfortunately someone has cleaned it pretty heavily. Still pretty cool, but it hurts the value quite a bit.

The halo around all of the devices is a dead giveaway beyond the color of the surfaces. The coin has a small amount of wear, so the coin should not have such a shiny surface.

looks like it had been polished, so maybe worth about $25.

For a problem free coin with a bit of circulation wear $45 to $55 should be in the ballpark. But the shiny surfaces don't look natural or right to an experienced eye. So $20 might be realistic. Sorry, yet it is still a cool item.

Polished. Still a favorite of mine. When I fly into Atlanta (and who hasn't!) I love looking for Stone Mountain and seeing that Sculpture from 30,000 feet!

Just glancing at some in EBay, I think it would have graded out nicely if someone's busy little hands hadn't gone to work on it with polishing. If you ever run across another coin like this, don't clean it as a previous owner apparently did.

Still a nice historic keeper, though.
