100% With that many lights on it => it would burst into flames if it was real!! ... after screwing-up our hardwood floors, we have gone to a fake tree (but man, that thing is like a fricken lighthouse!!) ... it's a crowd fav Hey, I grew-up with real trees (sweet smell and great memories ... but I ain't missin' them too much => they're a lot of fuss) ... if you look really closely, you'll see that the tree is actually encased in a slab
My secret Santa gift arrived today! It shall stay in its envelope at least until Saturnalia... But my thanks to whoever sent it!
I hope Santa is not mad at me for buying raindeer meat in that supermarket in San Lorenzo, Spain, earlier this year. Maybe that's why my Secret Santa gift is taking so long?
No Fake tree here, went out this weekend cut down and setup our fresh Christmas tree.. over 7' tall, little on the thin side. no snow, but a lot of rain!
@Eng no snow here either...just rain and mud. England has so far been much like my time in your neck of the woods.
I apologize to my Secret Santa. I had intended on getting mine sent on the 1st but life got very busy and it has been delayed. It will be in the mail soon though I promise!
Okay-okay, I must fess-up that my giftee already received his gift back near US Thanksgiving ... yah, somehow he knew that it was from me?!! (maybe the return address, or the fact that it was probably still frozen c-stiff?!) anyway ... I apologize to my guy for sending it a bit too early (I admit that I probably erred on the side of caution a bit too drastically) ... who knew that it would merely take a few days to arrive in Europe?!! => Frick, Santa is even quicker than the I thought!!
Well we have less than two weeks till Christmas eve, so as we get all the lights and tree up get the Christmas Roast. i had a thought how bout making some Christmas ornaments of Roman and Greek coins to hang on the tree. I have been working on finding out how these coins were made, i just can't believe some guys over 1500 years carved out bronze to make dies and coins that we see today. So i grabbed Z's Ephesus Silver Bee and carved out a die and struck me some Christmas ornaments. ( the first thing i learned you have to do it backwards). Ionia, Ephesus.. AD.2015 Obv. Bee 90mm x over 50g. My carved die Struck coin in gold. Struck in silver. And the real fake patina.. For some reason my wife won't let me hang them from the tree.
My Secret Santa gift arrived at the office. It was sent through Amazon. We were expecting a package from Amazon, so my paralegal assumed this was it, opened it, and when she saw some books on ancient coins, freaked out and was in the process of calling Amazon for a return when I walked in. When I saw the lovely coin books on the desk with an opened box, I put 2 and 2 together and figured out what happened. Next year I'll use my home address to avoid this mess. Still, lovely gifts. I am very pleased with them...but I think my paralegal is not pleased I added to her stress level.
