    Hello

    Would anyone be able to help with more information on this coin and the value?

    Ligurian Republic. 96 Lire, 1803 Anno VI. NELL' UNIONE LA FORZA

    I was able only to find one cached link to Stack's showing a price from a December 2001 catalogue but no other information.

    http://64.233.167.104/search?q=cach...e,+1803+Anno+VI.++NELL'+UNIONE+LA+FORZA&hl=en

    I cannot believe there is nothing since Dec 2001!

    God Bless
    Juanita

    Try writing to Fred Borgmann of Krause publications... He relied to me. Send a message with these 2 pictures to : borgmannf@krause.com and wait 3 weeks.

    Hello Aidan

    I posted the original and, if you are asking if the coin is genuine....I will answer you with a definitive, yes! It is one of the gold coins passed down through the family and originally, as the assortment of coins all being gold are different, I was hoping they were clues that might lead me to my line of ancestors. I hit a brick wall at my great-grandfather Leone Della Torre whose father was apparently Conte Della Torre and mother, Giulia Della Torre, later married a Nacamuli.

    Be well and God bless

    Juanita,the Ligurian Republic was one of quite a few Italian puppet states that was set up by Napoleon Bonaparte in the late 1790's.If you have a copy of the 18th. Century Krause catalogue,you will see what I mean.

    You have got to be very careful,as there's a lot of forgeries of these coins.

    96 Lire is an extremely odd denomination.I suppose that there was even a 48 Lire coin.

    Here's an article; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ligurian_Republic .
