Hello Aidan I posted the original and, if you are asking if the coin is genuine....I will answer you with a definitive, yes! It is one of the gold coins passed down through the family and originally, as the assortment of coins all being gold are different, I was hoping they were clues that might lead me to my line of ancestors. I hit a brick wall at my great-grandfather Leone Della Torre whose father was apparently Conte Della Torre and mother, Giulia Della Torre, later married a Nacamuli. Be well and God bless Juanita
Juanita,the Ligurian Republic was one of quite a few Italian puppet states that was set up by Napoleon Bonaparte in the late 1790's.If you have a copy of the 18th. Century Krause catalogue,you will see what I mean. You have got to be very careful,as there's a lot of forgeries of these coins. 96 Lire is an extremely odd denomination.I suppose that there was even a 48 Lire coin.
