NGC.... NCG.... they won't notice....

I just spent about 10 minutes trying to find this holder in NGC's history before I realised it said NCG.

Saw it on eBay. Sold for $99 with 1 bid. Stuff like this and all the other tricks and the Japanese fakes make it so that I don't want to spend any real money on a coin on eBay. Scams/trickery these days make it impossible for a novice coin collector to enjoy the hobby.

Does S$1 mean silver dollar? Apparently this wannabe TPG can't tell a half from a dollar .............

I know that liking your post doesn't take the pain away. Joe2007 has a good point. You could file a complaint with eBay as an item "not as advertised". What did the title say on the listing and how long ago was the purchase?

Not to mention the MS66 designation!

No kidding - even with the crappy picture the coin seems to show wear. And how does this guy get away with NCG label?

Because he doesn't care if someone else is already using the acronym.

Just to clarify, I did not buy the coin.

Yes - But I'm saying I'm surprised nobody reported this auction for trying to put a spin on NGC! Or Ebay is so damn money hungry now-a-days that they don't care?

It's quite possible nobody reported it; I know a lot of folks who have given up such reporting because of Ebay's inaction on previous reports. Not to mention, such slabs aren't against Ebay's rules as long as they're not referred to as "reputable graders" or by name.

I think it's a sister company of PGCS.

Good - them are some butt ugly coins - not even MS. His label machine must have got stuck on "MS66" and he can't afford to get it fixed!

Yeah - plus if someone bids on these coins then they aren't knowledgeable enough to realize these are WAY over graded circulated coins and actually would report him.

There are several lists of questionable slabbing acronyms on the Web. Several have used variations of PCGS and NGC in an apparently sly attempt to sell something that ain't.

Unfortunately it looks like it is working, to the buyer's detriment. :(

    These things make me laugh.
It's tough though for those honest sellers. All my LCS sell stuff on ebay (only certain items). But something like NCG can easily be overlooked if it was not for all the other things wrong with the coin...
At first I thought it was a silver eagle until I saw the 1936.

99 buck for a EX maybe coin in a NOT NGC but NCG. What a rip off.

1917 another rip off grade coin. And the person who brought it could be someone the seller know. Private bidders. Just another look cleaned coin and not even the detail is in MS condition

Not hard. NGC wouldn't care because it is not their initials, and there have been at least three different fly-by-night companies that have used NCG for their company initials. Now if they used NCG in the title then they violated ebay rules but ebay isn't real likely to go after them. If they sused MGC in the title then they violated a different ebay rule (keyword spamming) but once again it isn't hard to get away with it.

This seller is currently offering 35 of these NCG graded coins.....

There a good chance that he's making the NCG holders
