Sorry, no full steps, they must be free of any hits/interuptions and even if you had full steps the other damage would leave your coin still worth 5 cents. But do keep trying, they are out there in regular wrapped rolls.
This little guy is still in the mint cello...its unc. I think what you may be seeing as interruption might be on the packaging. Regardless they are rather weak. If I can get it to look better with out the cello I'll post. Thanks for the opinions.
I thought the pics would look better outside the cello. Now @SuperDave the question is are you just effin' with me since I seem to not be giving up my quest in this thread, or do you really see 5FS? I can take it, give it to me.
Looks like 5 steps now, picture is much better. Are you in the right date era for the five steps as opposed to the 6 steps. I can't remember when the date crossover occurred from 5 -6 steps.
Yeah, I seriously see enough to make me consider it 5FS. The 6th at the bottom is all but erased, though.
To the best of my knowledge, this has been the coin's design from inception. The debate has been regarding the "Full Steps" standard for the TPG's, which have changed over the years. Here's a previous CT thread from someone who's forgotten more than I know about Jeffs: https://www.cointalk.com/threads/th...erson-nickels-defined-photographically.49827/ Note the 1940-D 6FS.
Omg, those photos are terrible. I seriously need to do an updated thread on the full step designation with better photos. In the mean time, I found a thread that I posted on a different forum that has better photos. Hope it helps. http://www.coinforums.com/general-n...ll-step-fs-designation-jefferson-nickels.html
What I was looking for in my memory but did not have book on hand for was that, in order to give your coin a full 5 step designation it had to be made prior to 1989. After that a full stepper has to be 6 six steps. The design has not changed but it is much harder to find a 6 step coin before 1989 due to bad quality production overall. Although it's still possible. Even the mint sets had poor quality coins.
Tommy, I think that date is right, but I don't really collect Jeffersons past 1964 so I never really paid that much attention.
