I have not received it yet, so look forward to seeing it in person and taking new pictures. Looks decent to me. I would love to pick up one of the other style too. What does the edge bend mean? I cannot see anything in the pics, so am hoping it is not too bad.

Well, the coin is a little bent, that's all. It's not a terribly big deal to us ancient collectors, especially since that's a lovely example of the "new-style" tets. I'd be happy to have that coin in my collection.

I've loved both owl styles, and am really wanting one of the other ones. They can be pricey though. Comparing this one to the coins on vcoins, it seems I got a decent price, but who knows.

It's not unusual at all for these larger silver coins to have a slight bend or wave to the flan. I previously owned a Thasos tetradrachm that had an obvious bit of a wave going on when viewed on-edge.

How much did it cost? Not asking to buy it, just asking how much?

I'm a big fan of the new style Athen's tets. These are nice and big. You will love the heft if you decide to free it. Congrats.

300 bucks for that is a steal

In my opinion it's not polite to talk about the price of a coin unless the owner posts it and wishes to discuss it.

It was right at $300, which I thought was fair compared to raw on vcoins.

very nice lookin' owl jwitten...u 2 MZ!

i don't think the edge bend will be a big deal. you may not even notice it in the slab.

these are a bit out of my league, but that seems like a reasonable price for that coin.

That is a fair price for the grade and it is well centered.

Got to love the Owl coins . I tried to get an earlier one but they stood firm at $1800 and all I had left was around $1400 . One of these days I'll get one .

I love the surfaces, especially on the reverse. It looks like it's starting to retone.

I also think it's rude to ask someone publicly how much they paid for a coin, similar to asking someone how much they make.

Nice addition. From the pictures I don't see anything either.

I don't mind being asked about the price. A private message would have been a little better though. I often wonder how much people pay for a coin I like. You cannot learn without knowing what a fair price is.

i said that to congratulate the OP for getting a universally recognizable good deal, no offense intended, and my sincere apologies if my comment upset anyone.

For collectibles, price is one of the primary attributes, it describes the value in an objective term and gives an idea how desirable the article was. It would be much harder to explain to a person not into european classic cars how rare a ferrari 250 GTO was without telling him the thing costs 40 million bucks.

Well now...it does have the word Ferrari in it.;)

We all won't find the same things offensive. Heck, my "Hook" meme might be offensive but I was just trying to have a little fun. I do consider it impolite.

Speaking of offensive...my friend was riding in an elevator with an older Korean man (this was in Korea) and while the elevator was going up the older man farted. My friend, being a mature 23 year old looked at him and giggled. The man looked at my friend like "and what's your problem." I'm not sure what to make of it.

    Back to the coin...

I like the "new style" better and look forward to the day I add one to my collection.
