Here is yet another half I'd appreciate you opinions on. This is also a 1925 Stone Mouintain issue. Take Care Ben
The coin is roll mint according to the seller, and yes there appears to be a little doubling on In God We Trust or alt least some cuds near the serifs where I circled.
the spots your circled are the places i noticed looked 'different'. Some day, when i have caught up on all the yearly products, and i have the funds to do so, i really want to obtain some examples of the Early Commems. I have a TON of modern, excluding gold issues. So continuing on with obtaining the earlies would only make sense. think i have 2; 1893 Columbian Graded MS-63 by ACg (it was bought several years ago lol and i didnt care if the grade was right or not. I just wanted the coin and the price was good) 1952 Carver-Washington the seller graded it proof, but i doubt it is. I will have to dig it out of the safe later ight and take another look at it.
Ben,this coin is even better than the other one that you posted.I can guess that the 2 men depicted with the horse are soldiers from both the U.S.A. & the Confederate States of America.Am I right? Aidan.
General Robert E. Lee and General Stonewall Jackson w/13 stars for each state in the Confederacy. http://www.commem.com/prod31a4.htm What would you say if I told you these were the SAME coins? Well, they are, quite a difference in photos I'd say...
Ben: Do you see what I meant about the texture? Wow! If the same coin, then photography is everything.
Yes, his photo was terrible. I suspected something was up when I noticed the background color of the (white) bond paper was two different tones of gray.
Ben,that's very interesting.I am rather surprised that Jefferson Davis hasn't been depicted on a U.S. coin yet. Here's an article for those who don't know who Jefferson Davis was; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jefferson_Davis . Aidan.
Aiden: Hmmm...perhaps it is because of a little thing like the Civil War? And that he was the President of the 'other' guys? We should honor the enemy? Next Hitler?
still, this coin doesn't look cleaned to me at all, I'd say a 63, and some day I'm going to figure out how to take decent up close pics of my coins, until then I'm doomed
