Check out yahoo.com, there was a huge shipwreck find. THere hasnt been anything that big since the Atocha in 1985.
I think I saw something about that in the paper today but didnt really get a chance to read it. Wouldnt that be great to be a part of that expedition.
Check out the photo in this thread... http://www.ancients.info/forums/showthread.php?threadid=1368 Man, that's a lot of coins
Right here is a link for that..... http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070518/ap_on_re_us/treasure_ship Dont miss the related video on the left side of your screen.
Shipwreck yields estimated $500M haul Shipwreck yields estimated $500M haul http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070518/ap_on_re_us/treasure_ship Anyone read about this???? I thought it was a pretty cool find.... Could you imagine finding such a treasure!!!!! WOW...
It would be interesting just to work for them to spend some time examining the coins. Wonder if they have an internship .
aaaargh, ahoy maties. You'll see the commercials in a few months, as soon as they release some of the details about the wreck.
This find, as yet unnamed, has 17 tons of coins - mostly silver. These are the same guys who found the S.S. Republic - which yielded millions. Lots of double eagles on that one. They're already in the hunt for the next shipwreck - the H.M.S. Sussex. They say that one might have nine tons of 17th century gold coins. Nine tons. As we say in America, "That's a lot of dead presidents !" In this case, a lot of dead kings and queens.
With that in mind, they say they will release them slowly. But yeah... large supply has to drop the price.
Too bad the coin from the wreck will be priced very high... even if they are silver any sugar momma's out there
What do to with 17 tons of coins Here's a link to the newest shipwreck find. This has propably been linked already but I didn't see it. http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/05/18/treasure.ship.ap/index.html
Here's the site for the company that found them... http://www.shipwreck.net I'm sure it'll take years & years for these to all be released. They'll want to keep prices up.
Man it would be awesome to be part of the group of "benefactors" for a successful operation like that! $500 Million in coins would be awesome to see and even better to own!
