This isn't my picture, it is a crop of the seller's. If you were a gambler,
would you bet on this one?

I wouldn't bet this one (I'm assuming it's a Denver coin). The line of shadow at the bottom of the 2 is too nice and smooth. The overdate should at least interrupt that, I would think. The 4 is the better indicator on Denver overdates in most cases. I'm guessing that's an incidental ding at the top of the 2.

Your picture is small and difficult to see what is needed for us to make a decent observation. Based on what I can see, I would say stay away from it. It appears to be normal with no signs of an overdate. :)

It isn't attributed by the seller, it is in a silver lot with a Franklin, and 2 quarters for $10 plus shipping. It's not an EBay auction or even on EBay. It just caught my attention. It is a Denver mint.

More likely a die chip. A 42/1-D has pretty strong doubling on the lower portion of the four.

From what I can see, it's not even close.

Yeah, I can see how that would catch your attention. 1942/1-D's can be pretty subtle in imagery and a lot of times you take a chance to snag one.

I'd take the gamble, it's most likely not but for the price, it's not that big of a risk.
