Sorry for the fragmented pictures but I'm not set up for large, shiny coins. Too bad she has a bunch of bag marks. I still like her.
I love looking at early San Francisco Morgans. Fiendish strikes and great luster. Kinda dinged up but I think she's still worth a 63.
I concur with 63. Fields look nice and deep, not PL or anything, but that SF mint look to it. Looks like it's been dipped in the past because there appears to be some residue left on the obverse. Not over dipped, but it could have been rinsed better.
I've had it for 25 years and never touched it. I see, and acknowledge the ' haze' in areas but. This is before me.
than maybe the discoloration is on the coin holder. I'm not sure what you are using to store the coin, but from around 5 - 8 o'clock on the obverse field near the rims, there is some kind of surface "disturbance". Could have also been dipped before you acquired it. It's my understanding this was a common practice back in the day.
No. I'm using 2 X 2 which has been opened numerous times, so no real protection. Where people really into that stuff, that long ago?
Typically nice MS 63 Morgan. Very nice luster, and typical bag marks. A good example of a date that usually looks great, due to fabulous strike, and nice mint luster.
