Trying, finally, to find out any information on this coin or token. Found it some years ago while medal detecting. I've searched some books and catalogs on Ancient coins and have found nothing. Any information would be much appreciated.
The obverse is based on this coin http://cngcoins.com/Coin.aspx?CoinID=291150 and i am not sure if the reverse is from an actual coin or not.
The obverse is based on the denarii of the Roman Republican moneyer M Cipius M.f. from 115 or 114 BC. Not sure about the reverse.
I believe the reverse is copied from the coinage of Octavian: RIC 271 Octavian Denarius. 29-27 BC. Laureate bust right / IMP - CAESAR, statue of Octavian on rostral column. RSC 124. http://www.wildwinds.com/coins/sear5/s1559.html#RIC_0271
