Would a subscription to the president dollar or any other set really be worth it? The Presdent dollars are $35.95 on the site. You can buy them at the bank for face value of $25. Are they different strikes? What am I missing here? thank for the feedback!

they are the same strike.. the common thought is that the rolls you buy fromthe Mint will somehow be in better condition ... but they are the same coins!!!

Here's a link to a thread that discussed this extensively.
Bottom line is that the coins seems to be the same. A lot of people think the original mint-wrapped rolls will be worth a premium. Not everyone buys that.

I also agree with daggarjon. I believe they are all the same strike also, the only thing different is you're getting is the U.S. Mints wrapper for an extra $10.95.

I get a roll at the bank at face value (usually P here in Florida) and then get the other mint mark from the Mint. Saves a little money that way!! davdo.

I have a (non collector) friend in Los Angeles who gets me the D rolls at face value. I just have to pay the postage. It annoys him, but he's willing to do it.

What we need to do is pair up with a buddy on the opposite side of the country and avoid the surcharge altogether.

Problem with bank rolls is there's no way to prove which mint unless you crack them open. And then you lose any value, if any, associated with such. If you think there will be a premium on unopened rolls, then the only way to go is mint wrappers. Personaly, I believe there will be collectability in unopened rolls, but if you figure the cost over the entire program, it's a handsome sum. If a person makes the commitment from start to finish, then suscribe, no sense doing a few and miss a few, etc. Thanks, Douglas

That's especially an issue with coins that have the mint mark on the edge. You miss error coins also.

Apparently John Adams. I think there have been more reports of not being able to get the John Adams coins than there were the GW coins. I think there are probably a lot of banks sitting on piles of searched and returned GW dollars and they don't have a lot of interest in adding a pile of JA to that as well.

I still think it would not surprise me to see them going to collector only sales by the time they reach Monroe a the start of next year.

Huh - I haven't found a bank in NYC that carries them, even as loose change.
