Hello my friends! Some of you have been asking about my absence - thank you for your concern. I've missed you all very much. In October of last year I was struggling with a sinus infection, for which I was taking antibiotics. It seemed to be receding, but it suddenly morphed into sepsis, and I contracted a very serious case of vasculitis, a variety known as Wegener's Disease. My hands and feet went numb, and my heart was racing out of control.

I spent a month in the hospital, twelve days in ICU. They threw everything they had at me to slow down my heart. Then I started bleeding internally and had to receive three transfusions. Then my kidneys failed and I had to go on dialysis. By the time I left the hospital I had lost fifty pounds and had to use a wheelchair. A month later I graduated to a walker, and I can now get around pretty well with a cane.

The neuropathy in my hands and feet has not diminished - I feel like I'm walking on a couple of big marshmallows. But my kidneys are (miraculously) making a comeback, and after four months of dialysis, I've been told that I don't need to come back if my bloodwork remains good.

I still have my store at Vcoins (JAZ Numismatics), and I'm going to resume my private auctions as soon as I can. I'm also organizing my show paraphernalia and I'll be making a few appearances in PA over the next few months, including Hershey, Allentown and PAN. It's been a very rough ride for me, but it ain't over till the fat lady sings, and I'm very happy to be back coining.

Cheers and blessings to you all! J

Oh my lord, that is truly harrowing. It's eye-opening how something seemingly minor can transform into something quite scary. Congrats on your recovery and welcome back.

Wow, I'm glad to see that you're back and recovering. You obviously already know how serious that diagnosis was -- it wasn't really on my radar, but I saw the toll that a lesser condition took on my father (he was in nursing care for many months, but eventually returned to his house).

John, I have missed you snd your posts. I’ve also missed your CT auctions. I can not believe all of the problems you mentioned above but I’m glad you’re back on your feet, so to speak. I’ll add you to my prayer list and wish you a fast and speedy recovery. Take care my friend.

    Edited to correct spelling.

Sorry my phone changes words and I don’t always catch them. It should be a fast and speedy recovery. My apologies and I did edit it. Now I really feel terrible.
