There is absolutely no reeding on the edge. The raised portions are completely smooth and flat

I received it from a spectator buying food from my concession stand yesterday.

Fair chance it was caught in a clothes dryer. ;)

Well, there's a lot of people nowadays who don't hold favorable views of this country's history or the founders. There's a good chance one of them owns a dremel or some other rotary tool and ruined the coin to make a statement. But who knows. Who would take the time to do all that? Probably not somebody you'd want to meet.

What they said. By the way, if I owned a coin I even remotely thought might have any value above face, I would never touch it with anything like metal tweezers because of the danger of scratches. Even oily fingers (on the edge!) are much better than tweezers on the faces.

I was using tweezers to get the angle of the picture. I never use them on anything before.

Obvious dryer coin. Just PMD and NAV. And ditch the metal tweezers for handling coins. The chance of damaging them is too great.

Definitely damaged. It’s been ground down. And you shouldn’t use metal tweezers to hold a coin. Shame on you girl. :)

Yeah not a good way to handle coins but THIS coin? You may as well use some heavy duty pliers. Its not going to make any diff.

Stamp tongs would work. Some have rubber grips at the end and they are also made of a soft plastic.

It was completely damaged by tweezers :depressed:

    Kidding. Altered Quarter post mint.
Not a mint error of any kind.

No problem as I don’t think anything could make that poor coin worse. Just thought you’d like to know in case had a really nice one.
