Yep, noticed this earlier. Some stellar coins being offered at this auction!

Anyone want to chip in for a group buy on this gold Brutus aureus? ;-)

you are way ahead of me, but yes, I would. I could probably cover the shipping and insurance.

This will be one of the most exciting sales in recent years. I'm hoping to get at least one "big" coin and a smattering of others but it will undoubtedly be quite difficult as everyone will be in attendance.

Here's to hoping the USD continues to climb relative to international currencies!

I am so broke come the 5th of January. Most of these are nose bleed for me but I have a dozen Greeks already marked for bidding.

I am going to the auction this year based on what I see. I haven't bothered the last few years, but this one seems worth it.

Hopefully Gemini or the NY Sale will have some nice coins also.

...and the hoard estimate is less than half the Brutus aureus.

An interesting part of this sale is the decision to offer huge lots of coins that could deserve more separate billing. OK maybe the 1200 BCD bronzes might not get solo but splitting them into only three lots seems odd. The leader in terms of odd has to be the 291 coins of Palembang consisting of the plate coins from Frank Robinson's book on them (you even get a copy of the book). While these are too modern for most of us, it is an interesting lot.

Save your pennies. The coins I saw that were most interesting to me carried very low estimates. I will be interested in seeing how many lots out-realize the EID MAR. I don't waste my time bidding in a sale like this but I wish all of you well.

If my Secret Santa wants to hold off so they can bid on one of these coins to send me I am all right with that.

Any will do. I am not picky.

As a Flavian silver collector this sale does not personally offer anything of note. However, I will be eagerly following certain stellar coins out of curiosity. What gems!
