DISCLAIMER: First of all, these are very rough pictures in less than ideal lighting situation, less than ideal setting, etc., but I took the pictures to share my joy with you. Coins look much better than in pictures. I will take better pictures when I can.

There I was sitting on my desk humming ..."Mr. Postman look and see, oh yeah, is there a letter in your bag for me.."

And behold, my prayers were answered!

Here comes the sun, here comes the sun, its alright...... :)

But the party did not stop there:

I know people say I "can't buy me love, everybody tells me so, can't buy me love, no, no, no, no..." but I think they were wrong! You can indeed buy some love. I love this little coin I bought the other day.

I suppose I should say good bye for now... but i'd rather say hello, hello, I don't know why you say goodbye, I say hello!

Well, I'm 30 years old, but the Beatles and the Mamas and the Papas are classic rock. One is never too old or young to appreciate that type of music.

Without realizing it I'm starting to build quite a collection of ancient animal portraits in coins. I already have an eagle, a phoenix, horses, a donkey, scorpion, and a camel. Now all I need are some dolphins and an owl ;)

*gawd* ... what happens in your heads?

c'mon man => collect coins from Thrace, or maybe religious coins, know what I mean? ...

    ... but animals?? ... no way, that'll never catch-on, my friend ...

... arrrggghhh, okay ... you collect the crappy animals, okay?

There's plenty of animals to go around. I was actually quite surprised, between the Scaurus denarii and the M. Junius Silanus denarii I'm getting 4 different types of animals. That's a lot of animals for my buck. :)

Didn't even plan it like that, it was just coincidence that the coins I liked were covered with prime animal real estate.

What happened to "not buying until January"? :p

I won't buy anything else until January, this time I mean it.

JA uses dark magic on me to loosen my wallet. It wasn't my fault.

Lol don't worry I was just ribbing ya. I said I would not purchase anymore coins for a while after buying my Justinian solidus but I've made a few small purchases here and there, with my quarter-siliqua on reserve for me (I traded for my Placidia so no one can count that towards the breaking of my promise).

Oops, in trying to defend this purchase I used the excuse I was saving for the M. Junius Silanus denarii I bought. That one was excused as almost a even swap for one I'm returning.

However, for these two...JA used dark magic on my wallet is the defense I'm going with here. ;)

I need to write a legal outline to keep my list of excuses from getting mixed up, as I seem to have far too many lately.

It seems we all have a 'coin purchasing' problem----always a reason to buy another...Oh Oh, she's looking over my shoulder again......

I'm going to take high resolution shots tomorrow of these coins for my catalog. Will share them here once I have them.

Awesome coins Sallent! I too was supposed to receive a coin today, but it decided to detour to Mississippi instead. It's nice though to vicariously enjoy everyone else's new arrivals!

You're building your collection on some solid foundations there. Dark magic notwithstanding, nicely done on both!

Same here, he is using dark magic to make me bid on a Theodosius II Siliqua this Friday.
    He must be a witch!!!
