    Here is a 1856 I picked up for 30$ im hoping it will hit XF but looks vf35

    I'm still pretty new to grading and identifying cleaned coins, but that obverse has me thinking this coin has been cleaned, the eagle's shield on the reverse is much dirtier than some of its feathers which also makes me think it's cleaned.

    It needs a bath in acetone to remove the pvc

    On a good day 40 on a bad day 35

    What happened below the word Liberty?

    I'd say VF-35. Maybe details due to the very noticeable hit near liberty on the obverse.

    35. Old cleaning. And a pretty good whack on the shield
