    Hi all,

I just picked up a couple of coins at a coin show. The first is a quinarius of Octavian. This one replaces my Augustus As in my 12 Caesars set. I now have the entire set in silver.

Augustus. 27 BC-AD 14. AR Quinarius, Brundisium or Roma 29-27 BC, AR 1.63 g. CAESAR IMP VII, Bare head r. / ASIA RECEPTA Victory standing l. on cista mistica, holding wreath and palm branch; on either side, snake. C 14. BMC 647. RIC 276. CBN
    900

I have wanted a coin of Diadumenian for a while. When I saw the condition of this one I had to have it.

    Diadumenian, AR Denarius, 218, Rome 20mm x 21mm, 3.47 g
    M OPEL ANT DIADVMENIAN CAES
    Bare head, draped bust right
    PRINC . IVVENTVTIS
Diadumenian standing facing, head right, standard surmounted by eagle in right hand, scepter in left, two standards at right, left surmounted by eagle, right surmounted by wreath
    RIC IV, Part II, 102

I have collected what I liked and that has made this hobby very rewarding to me. I thought I would share a picture of the 12 Caesars in my new Abafil case. To those who do not like the 12 Caesars, please feel free to ignore my post if you desire.

I also picked up a Balbinus denarius at the show, but it has a hole in it so it is not a pretty coin.

Nice, though I hope the Diadumenian isnt a fake, it's a reverse type that has known fakes.

Both look pretty darn good to me. Here are my poor man's copies

They're both great, but I'm most impressed with the centering on the reverse of the quinarius. These are all over the map. Finding one with a complete Victory is a coup. The Diadumenian certainly looks struck to me, if that's any help as to ascertaining its authenticity.

Wow, great collection Orfew. ;) You should make a "whitman folder" for your twelve!

    Welcome back!

I've always regarded the Abafil cases as one of the most attractive ways to display coins that are in 2 x 2 flips, with or without an accompanying insert. For small collections, or portions of collections, the 12-item cases enhance the presentation of the set, in much the same way as AncientJoe's artistic coin photos enhance the presentation of single coins.

I bought the Diadumenian from a VERY reliable source. He has never steered me wrong and has always been extremely helpful.

    Many thanks IoM,
I took my time finding a case and I think the Abafil was the perfect choice for me. I really like that it contains the coins as a set. It is a solid well built case and my coins should be able to reside in it for many years to come.

    I LOVE the OP Posts!!!

    Great coins everyone!

My modest Diadumenian bronze follows...and I still lack a Quinarius of Augustus.

    Welcome back Orfew!

I think your collection focus is excellent and your choice of a finely crafted Italian coin tray to showcase your collection points to not only good taste but a obvious sense of fine inner design. ;)

    Well done!

I have the same case and I love it. Just bought a two-tray mini but still prefer the case you (and I) have. I don't keep my coins in the flips however. Congrats on completing 12 in silver.
