Of all the Emesa types the Moneta ones seem to offer the most variations. I don't have a MONEI but I do have a MONE . . AVG. Why they replaced the T with a pair of space holder dots is beyond me. Standard coins read MONET AVG without repeating the A. There are earlier styles that used MONETAE AVG (with and without IICOS). Note they felt the need to stick in a dot before the E on one. Why? The space was not s big that it required filling so I believe there was some code at work here. Alexandria spelled out the MONETA AVG but I don't have one for Septimius from Emesa. However, this Domna has it. Mint? The style sure looks Syrian to me. My last one is a coin I have had for a long time. I always liked the heavy browed eye on the portrait which attracted me to check confirming it is the same die as used with the MONEI coins. If anything the top of the T is heavier than most. I'm sure this is not significant but looking at such things is part of the enjoyment I get out of this specialty.

Here's an Alexandrian MONET for Sept. Sev. Domna Lots of other variations at Emesa.... MONTE Moneta seated BONETAE with an AVG II C obverse The MONETAE AVG II COS comes for Sept. Sev. (with the odd IMP CE L SEP SEV PEPT AVG obverse) and Domna (different reverse dies) Also occurs for Laodicea-ad-Mare IMP II (PERTE) IMP VIII (L SEPT SEVER PERT - AVG IMP VIII for example)
