I'm sure that the U.S. collectors here will be interested in reading the article about the Cheerios pattern Sacagawea $1 coin.

I don't know, I just cruised my normal resources and nothing in sight... I even got 500 sacs from the bank just to search and hope for some luck!! But to no avail... Nothing... haha.. The teller was like, "these are not the George Washington dollars, do you really want them..."

I wonder if these will get listed in Krause,as seen as they're listed in Red Book.

I tried to get one when they first came out as a novelty, being in the cheerios wrapper and all, but couldn't find one then. Now I can't afford one!!!!

A couple years ago Coin Talk had a visitor who was irate about the comments we were making about his eBay sale of his Cheerios Sac. I don’t remember why some of the members here were critical, but he had no sense of humor about it. As I recall, he sold it for several thousand dollars.

And I’m sure I read recently that the collector who first discovered the Cheerios Sac sold his for $9000. The tpg designated it as “Discovery Coin”. :hatch:

Rick, that was a real bummer. Some kid could possibly be unaware that they've got one of the Cheerios Pattern Sacagawea $1 coins in their collection,or it could still be out there in circulation.

What's the situation as far as the 1c. coins that were in the Cheerios box with the Pattern $1?

    Howdy Aidan...
Not ot sure about the 1 cent coin to be honest. What I do know is that every SAC I see I check for the tail feather detail...LOL

I wonder how many actually were put into circulation??

The cent was quite ordinary - nothing special about it. At the time they were issued, nobody knew there was anything special about the Sackies either.

It took about 5 years before someone examined one of the Cheerios Sacagaweas to find out how different to the circulation coin it really is.

Do we know how many Cheerios Pattern Sacagawea $1 coins there are? Perhaps, the mintage figure is also worth reporting to Krause as well.
