Yes...this is just very worn and circulated coin...However, if I'm not mistaken there were two date size varieties for 1960 and this looks like the small date variety? http://www.usacoinbook.com/coins/495/small-cents/lincoln-memorial-cent/1960-D/small-date/
Error collecting takes time and a lot of patience. In this case, it looks like it was on the ground or something to that effect. The scratches and gouges are a dead giveaway.
Judging by the damage to the coin it is only worth a penny. However, this looks to me to be a 1960-D Small Date. The Mint also produced a Large Date. Keep looking, it takes a lot of time and effort, not to mention a lot of coins to find a true error and not all errors are worth a lot.
Why go any further? It is not like this is a 1955 1c Doubled Die or a 1916D 10c. The damage far exceeds the worth of any common variety. Chris
Thx for the replies. I had it pegged at small date...plus, DDO (date) and RPM. I'm brand spankin new at this and need feedback whenever possible. If any of you care to, tell me if this is doubling behind the 9? Not that it matters in regards to its fiscal value, I'm just trying to figure this stuff out
Indeed - takes a long time to learn errors - I just searched about a Thousand Lincoln Memorials and only found 2 coins that had small die cracks! Have fun and hope you find something worth your time searching!!
