2 1986 pennies have identical markings. how is that?

    Zoom in and look at the ES of the word STATES and the O of the word OF. They are faded. What caused the identical marking? View attachment 454248

    Their both struck from the same die ( Reverse ) ..

    They aren't identical. Look at the entire legend, "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" AND "E PLURIBUS UNUM" and see what other differences there are.

    Doh! Look again, Rick! The grease-filled areas are apparent on more areas than the "ES" & "O", but are different on both coins. They can't be from the same die.
